Parish nurses do not provide direct

       care,  but instead focus on:

§        Health promotion

§        Health maintenance

§        Illness prevention

The parish nurse may also be a:

§        Health advocate

§        Health educator

§        Personal health counselor

§        Referral agent

§        Facilitator of volunteers

§        Developer of support groups

A few of the activities/programs

          provided may include:

§        Blood pressure screening

§        Blood drives

§        Flu/pneumonia immunizations

§        Elementary school sport physicals

§        Educational health programs

§        Homebound visits including Eucharist

§        Respite Care

§        Grief/bereavement support

The parish nurse ministry has the
